Gibbs Cay Stingray Adventure | $60 per person, 2 – 2.5 hrs
Take an exciting adventure to beautiful Gibb’s Cay. Swim and snorkel with stingrays in the shallow protected waters around this pristine island, which is part of our national land and Sea Park. Gibbs Cay is a top attraction in Grand Turk and is home to a whole fleet of southern stingrays that congregate near the shore.
The stingrays began gathering in the area decades ago when fisherman used to clean fish on Gibbs Cay Beach. The stingrays would forget their normally shy dispositions and feast on the guts of the cleaned fish. Soon the stingrays began to associate the sound of a boat motor with food, and eventually divers started feeding squid to the stingrays, one of their favorites.
As you enter the crystal clear waters, the graceful southern stingrays glide tranquilly past in their natural habitat. You can experience the majestic rays right off the beach while standing in less than 2 feet of water. At any time, you could be surrounded by multiple sting rays. Today, Gibbs Cay is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone who wishes to see one of nature’s most majestic creatures up close.
